Founder’s Story
Where it started. Why it matters.
The story behind Embark Raw Pantry — shaped by the dogs we love, the lives we saw them living, and the kind of food we couldn’t find.
Where it started
It didn’t start with dog food.
It started with dogs.
Embark began in 2021 with something simple — walking, caring for, and spending time with dogs in a way that felt more considered than what we were seeing around us.
What we noticed early on was this: dogs weren’t lacking love. They were lacking intention.
The moment things changed
Then came Luna and Ruby.
Not long after, we brought home two pups of our own — Luna and Ruby.
And everything sharpened.
Because when it’s your dogs, the standard shifts. You start questioning more. Looking closer. Paying attention to the details you once overlooked.
We wanted to feed them in a way that felt aligned with how dogs are meant to eat — not just something technically acceptable, but something that was genuinely good for them and enriching at mealtime too.
Something that nourished them, engaged them, slowed them down, and gave them something to work through.
Because feeding shouldn’t just be consumption. It should be part of their day. Part of their enrichment.
The search
We looked for food that reflected the life we wanted them to live.
We searched for meals that felt real. Meals with visible ingredients, natural structure, and variety. Food that did more than fill a bowl.
But what we kept finding was the same thing: over-processed blends, uniform textures, and meals minced to the point of losing all structure.
There was no texture. No variation. No visible ingredient integrity. Nothing that felt enriching for the dog eating it.
We couldn’t find what we were looking for — especially not unminced meals made with real ingredients you could actually see.
We weren’t looking for something clever. We were looking for food that felt real — nourishing, structured, enriching, and unmistakably made for dogs.
The disconnect
At the same time, Embark Paddocks was taking shape.
As we built Embark Paddocks — our outdoor daycare grounded in calm energy, natural space, and thoughtful socialisation — we saw a different kind of dog emerge.
Clearer. More balanced. More engaged.
But something still didn’t add up.
We were asking dogs to live full, active lives — to run, think, regulate, recover and engage with the world around them — yet fuelling them with food that didn’t reflect that at all.
So we built it
Embark Raw Pantry began by creating what we couldn’t find.
Not from a business idea first, but from a gap we couldn’t ignore.
We started creating meals the way we believed they should be:
Visible ingredients
Whole cuts and real components you can actually recognise.
Unminced texture
Meals with structure, variation and integrity still intact.
Rotational variety
Different proteins and ingredients across the week.
Nothing unnecessary
No filler-first formulation. No gimmicks. No guesswork.
Our philosophy
We don’t believe in static feeding.
From the beginning, we approached feeding differently.
Not as a single perfect bowl, but as part of a broader nutritional picture built over time.
Each recipe is created within a considered framework to contribute to balance across the week — using whole ingredients, rotational variety, and real-food logic rather than relying on over-processing and synthetic correction.
This is Embark
Fresh meals. Rotated variety. Made to order.
For dogs that live fully.
